Its that time of year.. Wedding Makeup and Hair Trials.

Determine a wedding day style
What is your “wedding style”? If you have picked out your dress, veil, colors and/or jewelry, then you’ve already begun to put together a look that reflects your personality. You can even get a girlfriend to snap a pic of you in your dress during your fitting. The more details you give your makeup artist, the better. This will help ensure that your final look represents your overall vision.

Make a photo scrapbook.
Begin to look through bridal and fashion magazines or google search images of specific makeup looks (ex. “smoky eye,” “natural”) for ideas. Then tear out pages of specific photos that inspire you to show your makeup artist at your trial.

Consider your personal look.
What is your typical makeup routine? Think about the ways you put on your makeup, but be open to suggestions when customizing your wedding day look with a makeup artist. Do you always wear lots of mascara and false lashes? Go for lash extensions or a lash growth serum. Moisturizer and lip gloss and you’re good to go? A natural look is you. Like to experiment with the latest looks and trends? Try something retro like a cat eye and a red lip. Don’t hesitate to test out a new lip color or bronzer if your makeup artist recommends it. Remember, this is a trial run, and makeup washes off, so you can always swap a color out.

Maintain a good skincare routine.
Don’t throw caution to the wind and fall asleep with your makeup on. Now is a critical time to be gentle on skin, moisturize and exfoliate so that your skin can remain flawless for your wedding day. If you plan on tanning for your wedding, don’t book a tanning session and makeup application on the same day. It will be hard to match your true complexion and you may not get an accurate picture of the final outcome.

Bring a friend
Having a familiar face with you can take off some of the stress that comes with wedding planning. Plus, close friends know your style and can offer a second opinion about the styles you choose.

Leave it to the professionals. Oftentimes to stay under budget, brides are tempted to get a friend to do their makeup. If you are hiring a talented photographer to capture your special day, think of it as your own photo shoot. Professional makeup artists are trained to keep your look fresh and camera-ready throughout the day. If you are investing in good photography, invest in a talented makeup artist so you will look amazing in your photos!

Remember, this should be a fun time and a chance to pamper yourself. Have an open mind about what your stylist might recommend and take lots of photos and have your makeup artist write down colors, so that you remember what you decided on.

Lucky for you, we can help out! :) Call us for your Makeup and Hair trial for your big day!

**INTRO SPECIAL**
 TWO Microdermabrasion Facials for $99
(That's right, two months worth of facials for only $99)

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a natural, non-invasive way to get back that youthful looking skin without the need for harsh chemicals, lasers, or surgery. With no anesthesia needed and no downtime, microdermabrasion is a true Lunchtime peel; patients can resume their normal activities immediately after a microdermabrasion treatment.

How does Microdermabrasion work?

Microdermabrasion uses a hand piece with a combination of crystal flow and vacuum suction to remove dead skin cells from the superficial layer of the skin. As the crystals move over the skin they remove the dead, flaking skin cells, thus evening out skin tone and promoting the growth of healthy new skin cells giving the skin an overall fresh, healthy looking glow.

Who should consider Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is ideal for both men and woman who want to improve their skin’s appearance and reduce the signs of aging. Microdermabrasion can be performed on any skin type.

What conditions can be treated?

Fine lines and wrinkles
Sun-damaged skin
Blackheads and Whiteheads
Acne and Acne Scaring
Superficial age spots
Oily skin
Stretch marks
Uneven skin color

How many treatments will your client need?

To achieve maximum results, several treatments may be necessary. The number of treatments recommended for maximum results can range from 5 to 12 treatments scheduled about 4 weeks apart. Each treatment takes about 20 to 30 minutes. They may need periodic treatments to maintain results after the initial set of treatments are completed.

What results can your patient expect?

Most patients will see an improvement in their skin’s appearance after the first treatment. However improvement continues throughout the treatment program. Fine lines and age spots are minimized or even erased. Acne scars and stretch marks become less obvious. Microdermabrasion will leave the skin feeling softer, smoother and more vibrant looking.

My New Year’s Skin Challenge

Happy New Year! Let’s start it off with not a resoution, but a challenge. Let’s call it A New Year’s Skin Challenge. The reward for accepting this challenge? Ending 2012 with the most radiant, clear and healthiest-looking skin you’ve had in years.
Via Bioelements.com

In 2012, I challenge you to:

1. Never go to bed without cleansing your skin.

2. Stop smoking (or not start smoking!).

3. Wear SPF – every day, rain or shine.

4. Never set foot in a tanning bed.

5. Visit a skin care professional for a facial. And make it a habit.

6. Get a good night’s sleep, every night.

7. Exfoliate your skin 1-3 times a week.

8. Move your body for at least 30 minutes every day – even if it’s just a fast-paced walk.

9. Get away this year and take a break from the stress. It doesn’t have to be an exotic vacation. A couple nights at your best friend’s place can do a world of good for your stress level, and your skin.

10. Don’t confuse your skin by cherry picking from product to product. You skin will benefit from a consistent agenda of products from day to day. Stick with it and see results.

Are you going to take the challenge? Let me know in the comments!

Breaking out? Weather change taking a toll on your skin?

Wintertime can be hard on the skin. Cold weather, wind, and dry indoor air can suck moisture from your skin. Add in the use of drying acne fighting products and medications, and you have a recipe for uncomfortable dryness, flaking, and peeling.
What can you do to help keep your skin hydrated throughout the winter months, while still getting the most from your acne treatment routine?

1. Change Your Cleanser
While it may have been a great choice during the summer months, your cleanser may not be working for you now that the cold weather has set in. If you feel tight and dry after cleansing, you probably need to switch to a milder cleanser.

Cleansers containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide can be particularly drying, especially if you are using them in conjunction with other acne treatment products. Instead, try using a gentle foaming cleanser or bar, such as Dove or Neutrogena. You can always go back to an acne-fighting cleanser once the weather warms and your skin doesn't feel as dry.

2. Don't Be Afraid to Moisturize
Regular use of a moisturizer is important, even for those with acne. Remember, nearly all acne treatment products dry the skin to some extent. To avoid flaking and peeling skin, moisturizer is a must.

But you don't have to slather on a thick, greasy product. Instead, choose a moisturizing gel or lotion. They are lighter than products labeled moisturizing cream. Whatever moisturizer you choose, be sure it is marked noncomedogenic. Noncomedogenic products are less likely to cause pore blockages.

3. Hydrate from the Inside Out, Too
When it's frosty outside, sometimes the last thing you feel like drinking is a big glass of water. But getting plenty of water during the wintertime is just as important as it is during warm weather. Dehydrated skin is more likely to feel tight and dry.

Try to get the recommended eight (eight ounce) glasses of water each day, to help keep your skin hydrated. When water doesn't sound appealing, try warm decaffeinated tea instead.

4. If Needed, Scale Back on Topical Medications
If your skin is feeling very dry and you have uncomfortable peeling and flaking, you may want to scale back use of your acne fighting creams and ointments. Try using your treatment products every other day until the dryness and flaking lessens.
